In honor of Banned Books Week, we’re rerunning Faith Erin Hicks’ loving comic tribute to A Wrinkle in Time, detailing her favorite part of the book. It is honestly the most adorable thing we’ve seen in a long time.

Faith Erin Hicks is the author and illustrator of a number of webcomics, including Demonology 101 and Zombies Calling. Her comic Friends With Boys is available as a graphic novel from First Second.

Banned Books Week 2013 is being celebrated from Sept. 22 to the 28; further information on Banned and Frequently Challenged Books is available from the American Library Association.

About the Author

Faith Erin Hicks

Author

Born in the wilds of British Columbia, the young Faith frolicked among the Sasquatch native to the province before moving to Ontario at age five. There she was homeschooled with her three brothers, and developed an unnatural passion for galloping around on horseback, though never without a proper helmet (because you only get one skull). After twenty years of suffering through Ontario's obscenely hot summers, she migrated east, and now lives beside the other ocean in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She worked in animation for a bit, and now draws comics full time. She's not sure how that happened either.

Her latest book, Friends With Boys, came out from Fiewel & Friends in February of 2012.

I heartily approve of this comic.

However, the proofreader needs to be fed to IT, because the comic makes the single most irritating Wrinkle in Time mistake there is. The family name is MURRY, not Murray.

And there is the problem with “It’s Room.” Sheesh, doesn’t ANYONE proofread any more? It should be “ITS Room,” not “It is room.” Although I suppose that is factually correct. It is a room…

@2 Normally…. but in this case, ‘IT’ is a proper noun. ‘IT’ is the name of the actual evil brain character. So, I’d argue that ‘IT’s’ becomes a proper possessive to use.

I am only sad that Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Whatsit are totally absent from this review.

I sincerely wish to see this treatment applied to A Wind In The Door as well.

I like this comic a lot, but it does need Mrs. Who, Which, and Whatsit to make it perfect.

hang on, A wrinkle in Time is a banned book? WTAF? I read that when I was about 10 and loved it. I now want to reread it so badly.
